PAUL EDWARD ALBANO

Cpl. Paul Edward Albano 2061712/6611 USMC was from Hannacroix, NY. He was born on Christmas Day 1945. He was 22 years old at the time of his death. He died in an air crash on land due to hostile action in Quang Tri Province on March 28, 1967. His body was recovered. He was not married. His religion was Roman Catholic. His race was officially listed as Caucasian. He had three years service at the time of his death. (This is listed in the Vietnam War Helicopter Pilot’s Association page as a VMO-2 loss of a crew member aboard UH-1E 152419. The pilot was Major Jack Coleman Owens who was also killed. Crewmember PFC George Mark Stevenson died in the same incident. A heavy fire fight occurred as part of operation PRAIRIE III. The NVA overran part of a Marine company. After a liberal application of fire power and help from VMO gunships, the NVA broke contact and the Marines were able to retake the area and collect their casualties. The NVA left 67 dead and had 2 captures but the Marines lost 16 dead and 47 wounded.)
